C++ Programming for Financial Engineering

Overall, this is a very high-quality course, though challenging as well. Before taking this course, I know almost nothing about programming. Now I can say that I can handle many financial programming without problems. The process of finishing this course is quite time-consuming and requires a lot of efforts. However, when accomplishing it, you will find yourself at a much higher level of programming before taking this course. I highly recommend this course to others.

The course provided a solid introduction to C++ and its applications to quantitative finance. My TA, Avi, was superb. The forums (and StackOverflow) resolved every issue that arose during my coursework.

This course is totally worth it. It inspired my passion for programming and made me want to become a programmer. Exercises are quite challenging and intense, but also great learning opportunities. I learned from doing the exercises as much as from reading the materials and listening to the lectures. The class is well developed so that I can find answers to almost all of my questions in the discussion board. TA not only comments on the correctness of my code, but also on the efficiency, which I think is great. TA always responds so fast - sometimes within a couple minutes, that I wonder if he is staring at the forum all day. :)

Generally very high quality, TA is very responsible and super helpful. I like the code review most in this course that gives me a solid training on programming. Better to have Monte Carlo, FDM part into details.

The course is really helpful for the people who have no programming experience before, especially the last level which is connected with Finance and I really like that.

The TA is very nice, and they will answer every question as soon as they can. But before asking, you better do some research by yourself.

As a whole, it is a very nice learning experience!

For sure, you can self-study and reinforce your C++ skills at your own pace.

With the intellectually stimulating forums and interaction with my TA APalley and Dr. Duffy as well as the people who are concurrently learning in the program, you are not a lonewolf solving a C++ problem.

You may be stuck for hours but at least, there is some support that would stay you afloat throughout the entire program. The course will reinforce your skill to become an intermediate C++ programmer. Although the exercises a 'toy' problems creating classes through points, shapes, etc. but the essentials skills of a serious programmer remain.

I myself took a C++ course but the rigor of the assignments and quizzes sets the bar for those who are serious enough to break into the Quant Finance Industry.

Overall, this training in Quantnet is second to none.

The course is comprehensive and covers a lot of useful topics. It can help improve the understanding and application of C++ to an advanced level. The TAs are also very helpful and timely in answering the questions I have. I would recommend this course to students who are considering an MFE program.

Best C++ class for beginners. Instructor is a very experienced C++ programmer who knows the stuff really well. And TA is really supportive. This is exactly what I need to master C++ within a short period. You won't regret.

This is an excellent course for C++. It goes from fundamental topics of C++ to advanced topics like templates, STL and boost library. The TAs are very nice and helpful. I learned C several years ago which I already forget most of it. That's saying I am pretty much new to C++. Although it's an online course, it is truly serious than most onsite courses. The lectures are well organized. Forum provides lots of help while doing the homework. My TA (Avi) is always there for help and all the questions posted in the forum will be answered in a short time.Overall, the quality of this course worth the investment in it.

Excellent course - well designed to get you thru to see the more advanced functionality in C++ from a novice starting point. The TA support couldn't be better - very prompt with no restriction on the hours (of course it helps reading other people's posts first before you ask your question!). I also liked the way the material was presented - short and sweet with deliverables after every chapter.
