I studied C as well as a bit C++ years ago but became very rusty about it. My recent work however requires me to pick it up, and the best way I believe is to take some course and force myself to learn. For an intro level course, this one is well designed, despite that in the end it becomes not so basic as Daniel himself admitted. But this is actually a good thing - we usually learn more under challenging environments.

I particularly like the following things.

1. The introduction to STL and Boost. These are things actually you will use if you are in financial industry. Few other courses I looked up on the web carry this part.

2. The homework. It certainly takes quite some experience to come up with such a design. By writing and reviewing the codes alone you can pick up some critical C++ concepts.

The teaching assistant and the forum are extremely helpful. I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to start learning C++.
Very instructive
The comparative advantage with other online courses lies in its depth in content
Appreciate the TAs work with efforts, they have done great jobs
The course is a highly intensive course with high quality. My original goal is to develop new insight of C++ in finance, and of course, the course lives up to my goal and even beyond.
Yes I understand the basics of C++ now and feel more confident about my graduate school courses this fall.
A very good overview of the C++ AND OOP and perfectly meet my original goal for taking this course.
I really appreciate this course and I will recommend it to my classmates without hesitation.
It's not a easy course, especially for starters like me. It requires devotion and time. However, the learning process is pleasant. Sometimes I get frustrated when I cannot figure out the bugs, but the happiness I feel after accomplishing every exercise is absolutely greater.

And many thanks to my TA!!! He's really helpful during the whole process.
The professor and TA have always been very helpful. It meets my original goal.
The content taught in this course is very useful, and the exercises are beneficial for my understanding of the course. What's more, APalley's comments on my answers to the exercises are very helpful for me to identify the shortcomings of my code. It do meets my goal for taking this course, and I think it will be a good preperation for my future study for the masters degree in FE.
This is absolutely a well-organized course to prepare students for financial engineering programs. It allows you to first build the knowledge base, test it with quiz and then apply it by writing your own code. The best part is when you can't figure out how to fix a bug, you can always discuss and search the thread, and you will notice many people already offered well-discussed and sophisticated solutions to your question.
This course has given me a thorough understanding of C++ and its application in Financial Engineering. Its materials are comprehensive. What's really outstanding is that the course provide materials about Boost and application in FE, which is not provided in other familiar courses.

The pace of the course is somewhat fast for students who also takes courses in campus. You need to work hard to finish all the homework. But you will learn a lot about struggling.
This course is perfect for somebody if he wants to command C++ quickly
I started with 0 programming background and finally finished this course with distinction. I learned much knowledge in C++ and could start to take my Master program in MFE. Many thanks for professor's skillful teaching and TA's kindly assistance and guidance to help me to achieve this goal.
This course has been one of the best learning experience for C++. I have Learnt a great deal though not the best of time for me to do full justice to it. Quality of the course is of highest order and tutor and online help has been amazing.
This course was both very challenging and very rewarding. The TA's on QuantNet were very quick to respond, professional, and helpful. I aimed to develop a strong basis in C++ programming quantitatively and qualitatively and I did just that. I will use what I have learned to continue to build my C++ skill set in the future.
The lecture materials are very clear. The TA is very nice and helpful. I learn a lot from this course!
I think the quality of the course is very high. I have been admitted by Rutgers MQF program, it fully meets my original goal for taking this C++ course.
This course is excellent. I learned a lot of knowledges in c++. Every time I review the class materials, I can always find new stuffs to remember. Overall, the class is very professional and the professor and TAs are very knowledgeable and devout all their efforts in helping us. The level 9's introduction to computational finance even exceed my expectation. That part makes me know how to use the knowledge we learned practically and inspire my interest in learning the quantitative finance. A GREAT COURSE WITH GREAT PEOPLE. THANK YOU!
One word to conclude, excellent. I experience a wonderful trip from zero to proficiency with the basics of C++. The teaching assistant helps me a lot, solving all of my questions, always in time. The instruction of the homework PDFs minutely guide me how to complete the tasks and the posts in the forum almost refer to all the problems I have met. It is enjoyable for me to study C++ in C++ Program for Financial Engineering and the program totally meets my original goal.
I like the class homeworks and TA feedbacks, I learn a lot throughout this material. Also the forums are very helpful. I learn from students response as well.
Overall the course is good for those who want to apply for MFE without c++ experience. TA is very helpful.
