I've recently passed the Probability exam and will be taking the financial mathematics exam sponsored by the society of actuaries. Does anyone know if MFE programs give any serious weight to these exams when going through applications?

no they don't. passing the first two is equivalent to taking the first class in probability. pass the next two and you are at the pre-mfe level

Oh that's a shame then. I thought the second exam would count for something, since I won't be done with the next 2 exams for a while.

I also think it sends mixed signals. No MFEs become actuaries. Save a ton of study hours and take the CFAs instead. They are easier and carry more weight.

Well I've already paid for the second one, so there's no turning back. If anything, I'm hoping it'll serve to enhance my quantitative background.

Thanks for the CFA tip though, I'll look into that. So many exams, so little time lol

You don't NEED any exams. I suspect a single impressive class in undergrad (PDE, Time Series, etc.) would carry more weight than any of these...
