Hi all,

I just finished my junior year at a top engineering school, and I am trying to decide which class to take in the fall. I am deciding between PDE and discrete math. I am going to take a data structure course in C++ to improve my programming, and the discrete math is recommended to be taken concurrently. Discrete math could be skipped because the material is only needed for one week in the C++ course, which means I could just spend some more time that week to catch up. So I am wondering if taking PDE instead of discrete math would look better on my transcript when I apply to MFE programs. Please kindly let me know what you think! Thanks.

Discrete math would be nice, but it's something you can pick up along the way (I never took it and have taken several programming courses with no trouble, although they might've been easier with that class). However, as Connor said, PDE is better for you since it's fundamental in any Quantitative Finance program. You'll give yourself a good advantage if you take it from now.
