For those of you who will be looking for a full-time job in the fall and are currently applying for a summer internship position, I am wondering that when you go on the full-time job in the fall, will you apply to the same companies where you have failed the internship interviews? Will they interview you again after seeing your poor performance in their internship interviews?

Depends on the firm. At a small firm, almost certainly yes. At larger firms, unless you severely screwed up you're usually in the clear.

Why does it have to do with the size of the firm? Even if the large firms receive hundreds of applications for an internship position, I don't think they will forget any candidate they've interviewed.

They will have your name on file, but they won't remember exactly how your interview went unless it went horribly wrong - you will probably have different interviewers the second time around to boot. In a smaller firm, this is not the case.
