(Keep in mind this is a student who's not in college yet, so some things I may not know)

I was wondering as to why Baruch has had such a high employment and salary outcome average out of graduation?
Is it due to the prestige of the college, the average capability/determination of a student who was able to be accepted as an MSF under Baruch, or the skills they give you in the college (And as a side note, what specific skills are valued in Quant)?
I'm asking this since I've started to wonder if the excellent student outcomes are more so due to the students capabilities (hence why they got accepted to the program) vs the college itself.

I think it's a combination of both:
Student Capability: The program attracts highly capable and motivated individuals who are likely to succeed due to their skills and determination.
College Contribution: Baruch provides a nurturing environment with quality education, resources, and opportunities that enhance student learning and career prospects.
The excellent outcomes are synergistic—the college's offerings amplify the inherent abilities of the students. In summary, Baruch's high employment and salary outcomes result from a blend of admitting talented students and providing them with exceptional education and resources. Both the students' capabilities and the college's support play integral roles in this success.

How good is a lower ranked mfe program (like rutgers for ex) in terms of getting a good gob right after graduation?

If you look at the ranking, you will see the employment rate at graduation of each program. Most programs have a non-zero rate so some students at those programs are able to secure full-time employment at graduation. I would suspect those are usually from return offers obtained during summer internships.

The students Baruch admits are very qualified, but by no means look like cookie cutter finance people who get pipelined in from high school.

Part of the success is that the students are very well prepared when entering the program and starting the recruiting cycle that hits from the first month. The students are well prepared, and Baruch does an excellent job of preparing them for interviews for that cycle.

Part of the success is employers knowledge of Baruch's standards. There's an interview from a hiring manager at Virtu which quotes the HM saying that Baruch does such a good job selecting students that employers don't need to worry about the students capabilities.

It's not that Baruch is a springboard for the most talented non-US students who need a visa to get into the country, though many Baruch students fit this category. Baruch adds much value through the depth of preparation they give students, the connections the faculty have, and the knowledge the program teaches. Very little fluff, all pared down to help students get jobs and perform well in them.
