Currently a student at Univeristy of Waterloo in Canada, and I will be declaring my major in a few months. I want to select my major/courses to best gear myself for a MFE based program. Here's a list of BMath Academic plans I can choose from: https://ugradcalendar.uwaterloo.ca/page/MATH-List-of-Academic-Programs-or-Plans

However, I'm unable to do the Pure Math options and the Mathematical Finance Option, as well as the Financial Analysis and Risk Management programs, although I can take some of the courses offered (most of the ACTSC/STAT courses)

Currently looking at:

-The Applied Math plans
-Actuarial Science/Finance Option (although I'm not very keen on doing Act Sci itself)
-Statistics (I can take Mathematical Models in Finance and Quantitative Risk Management + Courses like Stochastic Process and Forecasting, which seems ideal, but I'm a bit worried about the whole "pedigree" of a statistics major vs applied math major and etc.
