I do the quantitative software development for financial institutions (Banks, Hedge Funds, other) and I lead a current project connected with high frequency applications for traders/fund managers/other. This software development company has developed a highly object-oriented software product delivering real-time customized portfolio and risk management. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional eager to apply his experience in creating client-facing solutions, embracing the opportunity to expand their knowledge base and compensation with a fast growing small firm.

Requirements:

• Experience in .NET, C#, WCF, WPF, MS SQL
• Demonstrable enthusiasm for and experience working within the object oriented methodology, including SOA
• Experience in creating and deploying distributed, message-based systems
• Solid experience with Windows operating systems and server software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Background in a rapid development environment
• Commitment to writing well-structured and documented code
• Enthusiasm for learning, sharing and appropriately applying new technology and techniques
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively within deadlines and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Minimum 2 years working experience in software development -- Microsoft environment


Nice to have:

• Some experience across architecture and design, in addition to coding
• Some financial knowledge of portfolio management and/or trading
• Some experience with mobile development -- MVC + JQuery
• Some UI design skills -- client or browser
• Some experience in deploying to the cloud (Azure or Amazon)


Primary Responsibilities:

• Hands-on development, integration and implementation of mission-critical portfolio management and risk analysis system
• Extending current WPF version


Detailed Responsibilities:

• Designing, coding, and implementing software solutions, including substantial server-side work
• Contributing to architecture, design and code review
• Debugging and fixing code
• Supporting existing installations (~ 25 %)

We serve clients primarily in New York City and Connecticut, both on-site and remotely via telecommuting. While we work largely in a virtual mode, we do require a NYC metro area local presence. This is a contract position.
