Do you make money from trading?

Hi Folks,

This may be a stupid question. I am interested to know if anyone actually making money from day trading after completing the MFE program?

From trading, yes.

As to DAY trading, I know some people who say they do but I doubt they tell me the truth, since day trading actually means trading noise. If you are going to try I highly recommend you to have a look at my book: http://www.yetanotherquant.com
Some chapters may be downloaded for free, just have a look at Kelly criterion, which tells you what you can at best yield in the long run.

Or even simpler: if you can make 10% return it is indeed very good. But if you have $100000 trading capital, then you will earn just $10000 p.a.
Since daytrading is a fulltime activity, is it really worthy?

I worked at a day trading firm this summer that was completely non-quant. I can say %100 people make money, a lot of it

Sorry, I cannot.
As you can see, I always try to provide factual answers, not just refer to my book.
But since it contains a lot of relevant(!) info, there is nothing bad if I recommend it additionally(!) to the answers I provide here.
I think this is a win-win approach, since no financial professional will systematically answer to novices just "on charity basis".
