Would getting a MS in statistics to become a competitive MFE candidate be a reasonable path? Also, how competitive are statistics MS programs? Are they nearly as competitive as MFE programs? How about non-famous State Universities MS Statistics programs? Would it matter alot where you got the MS in Stats when applying to a MFE? I was looking at MS in Stats because it seems like you don't need to have been a Stats major as an undergrad and a lot of programs seem to cover basics in the beginning.
