I'm currently a first-year UChicago student majoring in math. I'm wondering if it will be worthwhile to pursue a Master's in Financial Mathematics. While I see some people place in quant after undergrad, I know others that have decided to get a Master's (this site appears to be oriented towards Master's degrees as well). At UChicago, I have 1 year to decide whether to get a PlusOne, or potentially consider a MS at another school. Any thoughts?

Yes and No.
Depend on how good you are in interview?
How many research you contributed to?
How good and big your portfolio is?
Who you know and how they value you and your skill set?
How you differentiate yourself and stand out from the rest?

Master is a terminal degree in this field which can be beneficial for learning and understand about the quant knowledge but it is not a requirement.

Many talented and successful people working in quant also only completed Bachelor from mostly Tier 1 college (Uchicago is also one of it). For QR role, can be a bit challenging while competing with PhD but many have done that with just bachelor because they have their name appear on many published papers at big conference.
