Hi all, I appreciate this may have been asked before but I want to compare these two programs. I have an engineering background from a UK university (would describe it as B-tier), an MBB job, and I'm very interested in math generally and breaking into a quant role. Which one of these 2 masters would you recommend given that quant may not be my long term (far future) goal - maybe entrepreneurship will be in 15 years. Thanks!!

I think if you want to work in the US, MIT could offer much better opportunities. However, Cambridge Part III is also very recognized so it is also a matter of personal preference towards one of the programs. Do what you prefer in terms of curriculum.

If you are good enough in the subject to perform well in Part III then I think Cambridge is a no-brainer.

Cheaper, arguably better recognized, and great material.
Thanks Mike!
You seem to know a fair bit about the MASt (at least enough to know its part III). Given my background, do you think I would be an attractive candidate for the course?

I didn't realize you weren't already accepted. Part III is very competitive, and extremely theoretically rigorous. If you come from an engineering background and don't already have many semesters of proof-based mathematics then I don't suggest you attend even if you are accepted. But I doubt they'd accept you, you aren't prepared.
