Other than the usual reasons for inperson > skype. I'm just wondering, $ aside, is it worth it to go on campus for an in-person interview? Any thoughts?

They explicitly stated they have no preference for either. I'm opting for Skype.

yeah they say that. but obviously there is a "preference", why wouldn't they like to meet you in person. Especially, you are the one paying for the flight & hotel, etc.

If you believe you can make a stronger impression in person, by all means do that to improve you chance. Sounds like you are confident with your personal communication skills.
