Hi! I have a PhD in Physics, know C++ well (have written my own ODE solvers and other programs), and am currently a postdoctoral fellow conducting research in astrophysics. I am planning to do a self-study of Stochastic Calculus for Finance I and II by Steven Shreve. I am also studying stochastic processes (for my research).

What are my chances to get a job in "quant-field"?? Is a self-study woth

looks like you should be ideal for a quant position. self studying is worth it as you have the background already
