Pure math major, need advice for quant. finance career

Hi, I'm a pure math major and wish to know how I can enter the quantitative finance industry.

My current plan is to study relevant things to get into a trading or finance-related internship that are seeking STEM majors.

I am considering a masters in financial engineering...

What you are doing is great. You'll learn a lot about financial products and what they are used for during your internship AND reading around when you get home from your internship.

When you start your MFE, you'll have a lot more exposure to products than a standard pure mathematician. Alghough this wont help you to understand the hard-core maths theory, it'll help you to appreciate the ideas that are proposed. You'll have more of an understanding of where the products you're pricing are used.

Of course, a short internship wont give you exposure to everything, but it'll certainly be a good start. Try to read around the topics mentioned in the post below to help you prepare for MFE:
