It's not only a tool, it's also a platform. The tool is zipline. You can use it directly without quantopian.

They are giving you the chance to prove if you can manage money or not, free of charge. So everybody that comes here asking, can I become a quant? am I too old? Do I need a PhD? or I want to be a trader or Finance is my passion, etc, etc. Here it is, show that indeed, it is your passion.
