I'll be attending Carnegie Mellon (for undergrad) next year and plan to major in Computational Finance or Operations Research. My ultimate goal is to become a trader. Assuming I do well in my classes, are there any good trading internships that I could do the summer after freshman year? Are there any such programs at the BB's or highly ranked prop firms?
Although I'm only in high school, I'm doing what I can to prepare for my career. I watch CNBC and read the WSJ everyday. In addition, I'm fluent in 12 programming languages (including Java, UNIX, Perl, Javascript, and Scala). I also do virtual trading in spare time (though every finance majors seems to do that these days).
If there aren't any good summer trading jobs for freshman, I'm definitely open to quant. finance or investment banking positions (though I suspect that such positions are even scarcer for freshman).
