I need guidance since my ambition is to become a quantitative trader in the future. Since I am passionate about computer science, finance and mathematics, this motivated me to pursue a software engineering major at the University . My question is: Does a software engineering degree work as an entry point to the quantitative trading field? Moreover, I am thinking over what to specialize in for my master’s degree. Finance has been suggested by some, mathematics has also been proposed as well as machine learning. In addition, it was suggested combining two areas, for example getting M.Sc. in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University or Quantitative and Computational Finance Programs . These differing opinions have been confusing to me as I do not know the one course of action that I am supposed to take. If there are any significant areas to concentrate on after my first degree, kindly give me some recommendations.

In addition to that, it has come to my attention that there are certain career tracks which should be followed after completion, in order to venture into quantitative trading. This indicates that it is rare to begin directly as a quantitative trader. If that is the case, I would like to find out which job titles or positions I should look into to help improve my skills and ready for a career in quantitative trading.
