Hi everyone,

Can anyone who is currently in UChicago's MSMF tell me if you took the prep course or know anyone who took it prior to applying for the program? Do you think doing well in the prep course helped at all with getting admitted into the program? Or is it there purely just for the school to make extra money?

Here is the link to the prep course: Prep Course | Financial Mathematics | The University of Chicago

Thanks!

I spoke to a couple of people in the msfm at UChicago and both of them took both modules of the prep course prior to applying. Both came from not-so-technical backgrounds (business majors) and the admissions office strongly suggested them to take the course. IMO this course is a good option for those with little exposure to one or some of the areas covered in the course and a good way to prove themselves that they can handle advanced math and programming.

Thank you for the response!
