US Expats giving up Citizenship

"Renounce" your citizenship. Denounce it and you could end up on a government hit list these days. The numbers renouncing their citizenship are relatively small -- at least partly because countries worth emigrating to (like Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Norway) are very difficult to get permanent admission to.

Look at this new law. The incentives for renouncing citizenship keep increasing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of these so-called expats are American born. Anyone who went through the immigration system here to become US citizen would think twice about giving up their citizenship.
The US has tax treaty with a few countries where you don't have to pay double tax.
