What is the Value of the PhD in Mathematical Finance?

Does anyone know what the employment prospects of these specialists would be? I'm wondering if taking a PhD specifically in quant finance might pigeonhole a person into that field, but this is probably just an assumption. What I'd like to know is if these guys would be viewed more favorably as "entry level" hires than general Applied Maths or Comp sci people. Thanks.
