hi,
i am going to take a MS of applied math. And after graduation, I want to do a quant work.
So, is it possible for a students of MS of applied math(but not MFE) to get a quant work?
The university is not a target school, so do I have to get the second master degree in MFE from a target school to get an entry-level job/intern?

We need to start from the definition of "quant work". Mine and yours may differ greatly.
It's easier to point you to an appropriate path or give you better advice if you can give people what would you like to do as "quant work"

Here's my background:
-Bachelor degree in Economics, concentration in Risk Management and Insurance.
-But without too much in-depth training in math (which I may learn in my MS program)
-Very limited knowledge in programming (learning VBA by self now, I don't think the MS program will teach much programming)
-4 Society of Actuary exams (I don't think they'll be useful to get a quant job)

I am interested in Financial Risk Management.
What should I do for my career when I'm in my applied math program?( such as high GPA, programming skills, intern experience, research experience, CFA exams)
