C++ Programming for Financial Engineering

The course is an excellent C++ introductory course that opens doors to a student like myself interested in computational finance.

The course uses slides, lecture videos as well as a great forum and exercises for teaching. As an experienced programmer with little experience in C/C++ it provided a great basis for those languages. The syllabus is highly relevant, focusing on the application of numerical methods and financial math. With its 10 Levels, it provides great insight and proficiency in the basics of object oriented concepts as well as how to apply those concepts to real life problems. Every question that is asked in the forums is answered the same day by the TA‘s or other students. Overall this course features a great study environment, and the same goes for the grading of the homework. In conclusion, it exceeds my expectations of becoming proficient in beginner and intermediate topics of C++ and numerical methods in C/C++, and is worth the tuition.

The overall quality is very good and the contents and structure of the course are very well designed. I learned even more than I expected from the course!

This course is amazing and definitely better than I expected. I have learned some programming before in school; this course still allows me to learn even more and solidify my programming background. The structurer is well organized, the TA is very helpful and friendly, the material is very robust and the practice homework are really practical. I used Matlab and Python a lot, but after getting through the training from this course, I feel like my overall programming skill improve a lot. I strongly recommend this course to whoever that needs to review or learn the programming from the beginning. However, one tip is that be prepared and plan to devote lots of time. This course is more rigorous then the syllabus seems.

It’s a great course and the work is intense. Very good start for programming.

I like this course for its comprehensive topics and well-designed homework. However, I think it might be better if it could be more compatible with different laptops especially for the code given in level 9.

The topics and materials covered are very well-organized and helpful. My TA APalley is very patient. APalley always provide detailed feedbacks on my homework. The forum also played a very helpful role since Dr. Duffey and TAs reply quickly. It's greatly beyond what I expected from an online course.

This is the best investment anyone can make for learning C++. The curriculum will expose you to all the core concepts of C++ and even some basic design principles. The "Applications in Finance" is especially refreshing as it gives you a sneak peek into the world of computational finance and the relevance of C++ in the field.

The course is very well structured. I’ve had experience in python programming, but this course offered me so much more knowledge, especially OOP. I have enjoyed this course very much

i would say this is a great journey and it actually provides me more career options. it helps me to build solid c++ skills and basic computational finance knowledges and those are just my expectations for this course.

Overall, it's an excellent course. Not only Dr.Duffy's instruction is clear and thorough, but also our tutors are patient and skillful. I felt very satisfied with the course contents which is essential for our skill development and career path.

The quality of the course was great as I was able to learn about the basic of C++ in just 10 weeks.

It did give me a solid background in c++ and it was interesting in the end to use it for some financial applications. I think the final exam which is really just debugging intensive is too heavily weighted. It doesn't reflect programming ability and it stopped me from getting an A.

It's the great one in all my CS courses, I learnt a lot of what I want from it, I think level9 is the best one.
