Hi all, good day. I am an Indian candidate, from a top IIT (B/D/K) with a dual degree in mathematics, with a CGPA of 8.89. I have done mostly pure mathematical courses in my undergrad. The courses I have done (not limited to) are including topology, probability theory, real+complex analysis, measure theory, functional analysis, ODE+PDE, differential geometry, numerical analysis, numerical methods in PDEs, mathematical finance, and some introductory statistics / ML courses.

I have a publication in a reputed computer vision journal (top 5-10), which tackles probability theory and it's...

Your stats seem fine. The issue may be with LoR, personal statement, etc.
I would take the suggestions by @MikeLawrence and others by at least take the C++ course here. Many of our members who got into Chicago and other top programs take the C++, Python and Options courses here. Some took pre-MFE courses from Baruch to refresh and strengthen their readiness.
I know it's a big investment of time and money but it's is necessary if you want to get a shot in industry.

Remember, getting into Chicago or any other program is just a small first step. Are you invested in yourself so that you are ready for interview on first day of class?
I'm sure with proper hindsights and preparation, you will get better result next year if you decide.

The scary part is that he is a prop trader and literally got rejected from uchicago which makes the most of its students into traders

I think it could be the effect of the current job market in the US as well, as I have seen many better profiles than mine get rejected, and not just something wrong with my application.

Will wait and see how things go. They say the best things take time, so…

Hello all!! I'm not sure if anyone has any insights into the UChicago Masters Financial Mathematics program offered, but I was recently waitlisted and plan on reaching out. In my application, I discussed my experience learning a new programming language, the "unorthodox" ways I learned about finance outside of coursework, and demonstrated how UC would help me get where I want.

I plan to send the admissions department a letter, discussing some of the projects l've been working on in my downtime to prepare for graduate programs while continuing to learn about the industry. I also plan on...

16 more still on the waitlist per the Tracker and surely more in reality. My guess is that they will release a few from the list periodically based on other factors.
They still have another round of application with deadline tomorrow.
