I also received the waitlist email but I already made the deposit for another program. I guess I will just wait to see the result and run the process of the other program at the same time. July 8 is really too late. Does anyone know when the semester of Columbia MFE starts because I didn't see any information on the website.

As for MAFN, the program starts in early Sep but the orientation starts somewhere around Aug 27th. I reckon it's similar to MFE.

Just to let y'all know, they sent me an email yesterday telling me that they were unable to admit me to MFE from the waitlist. The email also implied that the capacity is full. It also said that I can join MSOR or MSIE if I complete some prerequisites.

I also got the same reply but I am not sure whether it is a conditional offer. I am wondering whether there is a possibility that I meet the requirements but they do not give me an offer.

AFAIK, it is a condition offer:
"To be successfully admitted, you must fulfill the following conditions..."
Mail them if you have any doubts.

I believe that they filter the applications for the first round, based on some basic criteria. After rolling out admits after their first (unofficial) round, they start dishing out interview invites to the second round candidates based on the availability of seats. This is according to a senior of mine, who is an alumnus of a similar program, so I'm guessing that Columbia MFE would follow a similar policy.
