I am working as a valuation analyst for derivative valuation mainly using Monte Carlo, Binomial tree and other derivative valuations for about 2 years. We don't use C++, but only Matlab

I felt the projects we are doing are all short term and not deep due to the accounting purpose. The job is relative easy. The upside is not high too.

Should I move out? Is any place most suitable for me?

I was a developer before. Can I get familiar with C++ and be a quant developer? Hopefully I can move to Quant at the end.

Yes, I know.
But, I was a software developer for several years before. I think I still have chance to work well.

Thanks for the reply

what kind of job can you think I can use both model and more heavy programming skills around San Francisco? Not so much IB here.

In my current job as a quantitative valuation consultant in a company similar as big four,
we never use C++ and regression. I felt worried that I will not be hot in the market any more.

I am even thinking about big data.. It looks like a trend in the future

All I know is that I need to grasp C++, Algorithm and statistics well to prepare for the future move.

Do you think it's right?

Also, what's the job prospect of risk management in a commercial bank?
