Hey guys, I need some advice. I am entering my final year as undergrad having majored in Economics and minored in Mathematics. My GPA is currently 3.4 and hopefully will be up to 3.5 pending my results from this semester, and then hopefuly raise it more in my final year. I am writing this email because I need to know which course would be more beneficial to take. I am inbetween taking a course in C programming and a course in ordinary differential equations. I have taken calc1,2,3, linear algebra, statistics, econometrics...will be taking probability theory and real analysis this coming year. So I know need both programming and diff eq for the mfe programs however my schedules only allows space for one. Which one weighs more?

Also, granted my gpa isnt where i wanted to be, what are the chances of me getting into a good mfe program? I am hoping an outstanding GRE score will weigh alot as well as good recommendations from the econometrics and math professors. What else can i present to increase my chances? Thanks guys. Any advice is appreciated.

If you have no programming experience I would recommend the C programming class.

Define "good mfe program". I think you would have trouble getting into a top 5.

If you want to go to a top MFE program I would recommend getting a relevant job if you can (following Ken's advice) or maybe even getting a different masters first assuming the job market is still difficult....

You have to realize that MFE programs are very popular right now, so many people with degrees in math, engineering, computer science, physics, etc are applying to these programs. What makes you different? What is your edge?
