I hold a Master's degree in Operations Research and am interested in Risk Management. Is getting a PRM( professional risk manager) certificate enough to get a job in this field? Or do I have to have a MFE. I plan to work in Taiwan/ Hong Kong/ China. Thank you very much for answering.

Hi..

The answer to your question can be given only by the people working in Hong Kong/China in I Banks/Risk Management domain. If you have your masters degree from a China'S top college a PRM/FRM along with contacts in I Banks that may be sufficient. This is beacause the core quantitative work of finance for which MFE/PhD is reqd gets done in NY or London. This is my personal perception. Moreover if you are going for 1 certification FRM has better curriculum and recognition than PRM.

Bye.

To get a job you need to know people. MFE helps to build your network. PRM does not. Thus, it depends: if you know some people in the industry PRM might work - just talk to them, if you don't PRM won't be a shortcut. After you done you will have just a piece of paper which says that you are PRM.
