What does quantitative research entail? I looked at the UCB MFE careers page, where I came across this job title. I was wondering what role does this job have. Can anyone please help me understand this title?
The 'blue sky' quantitative research groups at banks create and test new pricing and trading models for the firm's trading desks or automated trading systems. They may also write prototype code in R/Matlab/Python that is then optimized and put into production by developers (either in technology or in the quant organization, depends on the bank).
