Okay, for once, this isn't a thread about me, although I'll tell you where I stand:

Had a Hershey's supply chain management interview. They either love me or hate me since I want to do OR in an IE rotation, but they do none of that.

Have a lockheed CSE position interview coming up. Hopefully will go better than bloomberg b/c it's on campus, not on phone.

Also have a princeton consultants interview coming up, and applied last week to Stony Brook for a Ph.D (if I get in, I want Rob Frey as my advisor for very very obvious reasons...having RenTec on the resume somewhere will surely give it a kick in the behind--but this is plan Z because of my $ status).

Anyhow, as I said, this thread isn't about me, but about one of my friends.

She's a grad student from Jordan (2nd year in America, although she has next to no accent and is freaking brilliant and will have a 3-year Ph.D from a professor with a dual MIT Ph.D in EE/CSE in quant finance/info sys engr), and is seeking a summer internship.

I've been trying to find her companies to apply to, but given the current foreigner no-thanks attitude and the fact that D.E. Shaw said no to her (which was an utter shock to me, since I thought they'd jump all over her), I'm trying to do my best she finds something.

Anyway, this is her website: http://www.lehigh.edu/~bhk206 , and her email is bhk206@lehigh.edu

So any help is much appreciated.

Summer internship is not a deal breaker for a brilliant PhD.It appears that finance people are under the hammer. So if she tries for C++ programming internship that cannot be harmful as quants spend a lot of time coding, debugging. However this should not be the first choice.

She could try head hunters.....I know some folks sending out about a hundred resumes a month, and still they haven't landed anything

Job market is though right now. I have been looking for over a month and most of the stuff out there is just commission based. If she really believe in her potential then commission based should not be a problem.
