Hello QuantNet forum members,

It does seem I have a good chance getting this REU in the summer of 2011 doing research in topological field theory at one of the UC colleges. Should I take it if the job I desire after I graduate is a quant (developer or analyst).

I am a Junior now so this will be my last summer. Perhaps the only related aspect of this research is the (quantum) monte carlo simulations I would do. I am in a delimma whether this opportunity is worth my time. I know quants are required to be highly analytical and quantitative. Such research definitely dwells in the area of abstract math which I'm not too sure whether it'll look relevant in my resume. (Unless I manage to churn out a publication that makes the interviwer think this guy is damn smart).

Thanks for your feedback.
Donny
