I guess if 10~15 admitted students decide to decline or defer the admission, and all the people on waitlist decide to decline the admission, then you will have the chance to compete with other people with hold status. So I think the chance <1%.

Has anyone ever been admitted to UCB without an interview? The website says we will be contacted for an interview “if an interview is necessary to make a decision on your application.” Does that mean not everyone needs to go through the interview process? Additionally, does that mean they only interview applicants who they are on the fence about?

They said that you can be admitted without an interview, I know some cases in which candidates have been interviewed before 3 days of the decision deadline and they were admitted.

What to expect in Berkeley interviews?
Just want to know, if they only ask Resume based questions or ask some other topics as well.

It was good. You should expect 2-3 questions from any of the above topics discussed. Mainly, they'll see what topic you have on your resume, and ask questions on that. You can also expect some questions on the current market news. All and all, it is good. Little bit of revision should be fine.
