'NYU MFE vs GTech QCF' was merged into this thread.
I am an international applicant and wanted to ask which program would fare better to get into quant strategy/analyst roles. I am not fixated on particular companies but am making this transition as a SWE from a top tech firm. I was convinced that the NYU program is a stronger programme just going by the past rankings, but on more research here is what I have ended up realising -
1) NYU
Pros: - NY city (biggest pro)
- Great industry profs
2) GTech QCF
Pros: - Very strong curriculum
- Career service more involved
- Better employer stats and better avg compensation
- Better brand name too (not sure?)

Infact NYU has published a combined employer report from 2016-2023 which makes me second guess the true employer stats.
I am still trying to understand how much of a weightage to give to Pros of the NYU and what am I missing that the QuantNet rankings in the past year are weighing in. (Its closest this year #10vs#11)

Would really appreciate an advice here as to what to do here :) Thanks!

Bumping this incase someone can give insights into why NYU MFE is the better program.

georgia tech is cheaper, lower cost of living, better employment statistics, less people, and better courses.

Hi, I am Computer Sciencce graduate and close to 2 year experience in HFT domain, I got admits for Georgia Tech QCF, program and NYU Tandon MFE program, I would like some help in choosing the university ( while I like the QCF programs focus on ML, I would like to know about the career opportunities between these two )

Congrats.
Please add your application timelines and profile on the Tracker so we can better help you.
Would be good to know what is your goal and expectation out of these 2 programs?
If you clarify what you expect to receive, I can tell you whether it's realistic or not.

Regarding the comparison between Georgia Tech QCF and NYU Tandon MFE, I am more inclined toward exploring the roles that blend AI and Finance rather than purely finance-focused positions. I would like to understand:
  1. Are there sufficient job opportunities in this specific domain (AI + Finance)?
  2. Based on my experience as a Quant Researcher at an HFT firm, I find the work to be highly time-intensive. While I am strongly inclined toward finance, I want to explore what other roles would be available after graduating from the QCF program. Specifically:
    • Would the time demands be as intense as in a Quant Researcher role at an HFT, or would certain roles offer a more balanced workload?
    • In general, what career paths are available post-QCF, considering I currently have only a broad understanding of the options?

Hi, @Andy Nguyen , I'm facing some difficulties in updating the tracker ( it's showing nationality not selected, no matter how different I try )

Hi, @Andy Nguyen , you have already answered the queries I had partly, can you please give advice on the above questions I had, thanks

I want to work in quant finance in the US, and applied for masters in Financial Engineering for Fall 2025 intake. So far, I have got admits from NYU Tandon's Masters in Financial Engineering and Georgia Tech's MS in Quantitative and Computational Finance. Still waiting for Columbia, UChicago and UWashington. Which one should I take, in terms for overall education, career services and opportunities and expenses?
