Thanks for your reply Zeyun. Did u fulfill those requirements? How long were u on hold?I got rejection last week. I know one guy received offer early last week. I heard that fulfilling those requirements are not much related to their decisions. Some hold candidates received offer without making any progress.
No. I have already enrolled required courses, PDE and numerical analysis. I am R2 applicant, and was put on hold for two months. Thanks for your reply Zeyun. Did u fulfill those requirements? How long were u on hold?

@Zeyun Wei are you taking PDE online? May I ask where?
Hi, @SAIL KIMHello!!!
I'm one of the applicants of round 2 UCB MFE.
During round two I had two technical interview and last interview with Linda.
After that, I was put on a hold.
Is there anybody put on a hold after interview with Linda??
or anybody knows someone put on a hold after interview with Linda?
I want to know it is a rare case.
Thank you in advance.
Hi, Can you please tell what all questions were asked during your interview with Linda?I was interviewed on Tuesday by Linda and got admitted. Good Luck
you could ask, but once on hold - admit is a lot subjective. So you never know.. it depends on peer applicant pool, and any drop outs being the main criteria..
Hi,
I just received a letter from the admission committee at Berkeley saying that they have put me on a 'hold' status for the academic year 2017-18. At the same time, the letter also says that
'we are ready to guarantee that we will recommend you for admission for the 2018‐19 MFE
Program.' It goes on to say 'Our guarantee of admission is contingent on your reapplication to the program and also on your successful completion of some conditions' . These conditions include taking their pre-program courses among other things.
Now my question is this: What does this exactly mean? It seems that they don't really intend to test me further by taking my 2nd interview (I had 1 interview before this which was decent) . But what confuses me is that if they are willing to take me in next year, then why did they not put me on 'waitlist' status for this year and give me a chance to get in this year itself? Also, is it mandatory for me to fulfill these conditions or are they just recommended?
Hoping someone would be able to shed more light on this. Of course, I intend to talk to the admission office as well to get a little more clarity.
No news yet after the first interview...Any thought on Berkeley's interview? Anyone received a second round or heard from Linda?
